Problem installing aircraft

Postby bob755 » Thu Nov 09, 2017 1:08 pm

Hi,

I dowloaded the A320 family from here:
https://github.com/it0uchpods/IDG-A32X

I then unzipped the files to C:\Users\Me\Documents\FlightGear\MyAircraft and added this folder in the launcher.

The list of aircrafts was displayed up ok and I selected a model.
Everything seems to load ok and I have the specific menus and dialogs but the cockpit views just display the scenery as if I was outside.
The tower and other external views just display a very basic aircraft shape.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, I found the problem!
I needed to rename the aircraft directory from IDG-A32X-master to IDG-A32X

This has to be done for any aircraft that has "master" at the end. I always also keep a seperate folder with the "master" in just in case the one in F/G goes bad, Then no need to re-locate and download again! But if newer versions come out just write over the back-up in the seperate folder! Hope this helps

actually, it has to be done for anything downloaded from a repository that archives the snapshot with whatever-blahblah... where blahblah is the repo branch... it is not limited to "-master"...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

GitHub developers should consider using the SourceForge file services to upload files of stable snapshots ;) GitHub realy should set up file download areas, as the auto-generated snapshots are not very flexible and many, many users have problems with the extensions added.

Hello,

So far it's clear. But how to add the folder in the launcher?

Best regards

I put my aircraft in a folder on the desktop named "Flightgear Aircraft" and point the qtlauncher (Under the addons tab, additional aircraft locations) to this folder. As I said in a previous post DO-NOT just unpack/unzip the aircraft "Master" file here because it WILL NOT see the aircraft in that folder. I also have a folder on the desktop named "Flightgear Aircraft back-ups" so I copy an aircraft from the back up file to the Flightgear Aircraft file and then simply remove the "Master" within the name of the copied aircraft. Aircraft should then show up in the list of aircraft on the launcher, If you have a aircraft like the 777 that has been remastered it will show up and look like a copy. Just hover mouse over it and it will show which is the file where it is located, but also the original qtlauncher file will show a blue uninstall box on the bottom left. I hope this is "As clear as mud"!!!! :D
