GlobalsModels.tgz and SharedObjects.tgz?

Postby Avionyx » Sun May 21, 2017 7:42 am

Hi Guys,

Trying to help someone get going with the scenery and they are missing all the objects.

Trying to find a source for GlobalsModels.tgz and SharedObjects.tgz , as I understand it they are supposed to be here but can't find them: https://sourceforge.net/projects/flightgear/files/

Anyone got any ideas where they are hiding?

Many thanks,
Alex

They're no longer shipped as separate packages - you need to use a tool like terrasync.py, terramaster or svn to get them from the terrasync repository.

Yes... except the svn repository is obsolete and AFAIK doesn't evolve anymore, does it?

Not sure what you mean - TS uses http rather than svn to distribute to users because they don't need the history, but the repository itself is very much alive and being filled by OSM buildings for the Boston region as we write.

Ah, thanks for explaining. I didn't realize it was still managed with svn.

However, thinking about the question from the OP, even if the scenery database may be managed by svn internally, the public-facing TerraSync-svn server no longer receives updates from the scenery database, according to this message. Therefore, my understanding is that it only allows to retreive outdated files. Or am I missing something?..

That I don't know - might be. You can remote mount it though and copy the files, TorstenD recently mentioned this on the list.

Yes, remote mounting is with terrafs.
