How do I install liveries on the latest Flightgear version?

In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.
- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?

How do I install liveries on the latest Flightgear version?

Hi, So I downloaded a livery for flightgear from this site - http://liveries.flightgear.org/ and downloaded a livery for the 747-400 and I have no idea how to install this livery into the simulator.

Installing liveries is very easy; just unpack the downloads to the aircraft's root (eg. Aircraft/737-300/).

but where is the aircrafts root where do I find it on a mac

Are you installing the craft in-sim or by unpacking a zip file?
If the latter, it's where you unpacked the aircraft.
If the former, it would be in FG_HOME.
If the latter, it's where you unpacked the aircraft.

There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.
