2017.1.2 planes can't be launched

Postby LinusGard » Sun Mar 19, 2017 10:37 am

When i try to download th b777 for flightgear 2017.1.2 Windows it doesn't work.

It says it's downloading but when i finishes I get the message: "An error occured installing the aircraft Boeing 777-200: invalid checksum"

It gives me an update button on the aircraft but i can't press it and when i restart the sim the aircraft vanishes

I've tried downloading it 3 times from the default hangar

Edit:tried a manual download and it worked but i still can't luanch it. Same for every plane I've tried except the 757

I also get this same error. I worked around it by cloning all aircraft from the fgaddon sf.net site, it is about 25-Gigs of data but it gives you all aircraft. Just add the folder you cloned to the additional aircraft directories when you start FG.

Another method to get all aircraft is to go to store.flightgear.org and get the blueray, dvd, or USB thumb that has all the aircraft.

I forgot to mention that you need to change the branch from "next" to "2017.1" when using git/svn or the aircraft will not load. It always defaults to branch next for development purposes.

What do you mean by "cloning"? How do you do it? Can't find anything about cloning on the site

If you do not know what cloning is, it is most probably not an issue. ;)

Many aircraft is developed and/or maintained using some kind of version management software, usually storing practically the whole development history in a repository. Two of the more common softwares are SVN (Subversion) and Git. When some people talk about cloning an aircraft they mean they download the aircraft development repository so they have a local copy of it.

What is the point with maintaining a version history for an aircraft in (constant?) development? One of the main points is that if you find a bug, you can often figure out the exact break point where one version in its history is free from the bug and the next one have it, thus making it possible to compare the two versions and usually pinpoint the location of the bug.

Thanks for explaining that but you didn't answer the question how you do it? If you can, a step by step guide from when i click on the link would be very helpfull. Thank you

what was the solution? without that information, others facing the same problem will flounder as you did...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
