fgfs.exe has stopped working...

Postby GuanatosPilot » Mon Jan 13, 2014 6:08 pm

I have Windows 7, NVIDIA GeForce Experience card on a ACER ASPIRE desktop AMD dual core. I had FG up and running for several editions (since 2011). Up to and including versions 2.12 had worked fine, even Terrasync, after some initial hassles.

I just upgraded to the 2.12 and now 2.12.1. I get "FGFS.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING..." MESSAGE now after selecting plane, airport.

I tried re-installing, including purging the FG files found in Users/Remote; in other words, clean up of all things FG.

I tried installing an older FG.

Save thing.

How can I get FG going again?

thanks
Rob

Usually, the little black screen indicates what is happening, loading, etc. But it is completely black. The purge of FG from the computer did help, at least, in removing all previous configurations and preferences. So we've a clean slate. I checked my NVDIA settings. They are apt for this machine, which is dual core, 4 meg RAM only. I am not a computer engineer nor programme savvy, but can follow directions. Appreciate the help! Saludos desde México...

In FGRun on the last page, click advanced. Then into Debugging, there you can set Log level to WARN and see if you get some hint in black console to why it won't start.

Thanks. I went to that page, ticked "warn" under Log Level. Pressed OK and started FlightGear. Same thing: "fgfs.exe has stopped..." Windows will proceed to close program..etc.

I hope someone can help me get FG going. This "fgfs.exe has stopped working message..." appears NOT to be related to graphics card. I looked on MS site regarding "exe. " errors but to no avail.
