I have been trying to establish why by C Drive has over 220gb used. In the process I have discovered that FG is showing as 108gb. Could someone tell me how this can be be.

Perhaps terrasync'd scenery and a texture cache (if you've enabled it).

yeah, scenery stuff, OSM data for scenery, DDS cache enabled for speed, and whatever craft have been downloaded and installed...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I think there's some kind of "assets" or "resources" dialog that will show the utilization (disk space requirements) of $FG_HOME, $FG_SCENERY and $FG_ROOT respectively - however, I am not sure if that dialog was part of the osgearth branches or the photo scenery stuff. Either way, it's a pretty useful dialog and could also be used to run checks during startup
