Flying with ATC - introduction and training.

Postby Tobias » Sun May 02, 2021 3:29 pm

Hello Flightgeare community,
My name is Tobias and I am 17 years old. I am an active controller, on ivao in Berlin. I would like to do an introductory course where I show you how to talk to a tower or radar and what radio examples there are, how it all works. I can't set an exact date. Expected: 07.05.21 at 20:00 Local
(deviation possible)

The whole thing may take place on Jitsi. You don't need to turn on your camera. The whole thing is voluntary and free of charge. There will be different theme en from VFR to IFR Phrasology ect. A meeting goes no longer than 45 Minutes. Well, I think that was the first time. If you want to participate, write under the post you want to participate, I will write this to me and will write to you when it starts. I look forward to you. Greetings Tobias ONLY GERMAN

Hi Tobias, what a great offer, thank you. I could spare an hour - could you structure your course to this duration?

Hello Valador,

I have now reduced the course to 45 minutes. Since I think that should be enough. Maybe to create short topics in time. Perhaps you still know people who would like to be part of a training session or an explanation. Then you can contact us, so we are more and more fun.
Kind regards
Tobias

I also would like to attend, if time permits.
I also would think that repeating that course from time to time could be a cool thing, so we can hone our skills and keep 'em fresh.

Such training is fun. Flying circuits this way for example is perfectly fine; and then we can branch off to another airport and return for the approach training.

Hello Benih,

I'm very happy, that's exactly what I thought about carrying out approach procedures, flying rounds and a lot more.

Kind regards
Tobias

Hi Tobias,
Have you considered turning your course into a short tutorial video later? You would get a good idea of what to include and in what order after running the course a couple of times - short and concise with good examples works well (I can give you some pointers if you like the idea). I'm very happy to attend your live course too, thanks again for offering this.

Tobias,
Glad I found this! You should host the event on Mumble, since it is how FlightGear ATCs communicate.
My passengers receive hazard pay... but at least I have fun.

Cheers,

Hello Tobias,
I would also like to add that Woosh also does events like these, I suggest contacting him.

Assuming it was the service at LFQQ this weekend, it went great! I hope this controller found some inspiration controlling with the FlightGear network and that he makes LFQQ a regular spot.
