You are invited to participate in a Fly-In Event

Postby KeithHadden » Sat Sep 19, 2020 2:46 pm

A Fly-In event will take place on 26 September 2020. Depart from anywhere you choose to arrive at Sydney Australia (YSSY) in whatever aircraft you want. You are required to arrive at YSSY at around 20:00 (UTC), give or take 30 minutes. It doesn't matter if you are a rookie pilot or the super ace, we are out to have fun and to meet other FlightGear fans. Even if you do not want to fly, just come and join us on the tarmac and watch the crews fly in.

Join us on Text chat anytime via irc at irc.flightgear.com channel #CharterVA

Video and/or audio chat will be available from 17:30 UTC at https://meet/jit.si/CharterVA

Any experienced ATC who would like to perform controller operations are welcome. Please make contact to make arrangements.

Feel free to chat and socialise with everyone.

We would really like to know which aircraft you will be using so we can make sure that we all have the model loaded. We don't really want to see "nerf gliders". Also let us know from which airport you will departing. Remember to plan your flight so you can arrive at YSSY by 20:00 (UTC), or up to 30 minutes later.

The more participants the better.

Post a reply to advise us of your departing airport, aircraft model, and intended departure time. All times to be quoted as UTC please.

We look forward to seeing you!!!

Will try and make it, departing YBBN 1815 UTC arriving YSSY around 19:45 UTC flying a 747 full of self loading freight or if I'm delayed I'll arrive in something smaller from nearer and aim for 19:45 arrival. Thanks for setting this up :D

hi chtadmin - I pretty sure it'll be the intercontinental passenger version if I depart on time, otherwise the standard cessna 172 but please load the eurocopter EC130 if I'm feeling brave about my skills with the xbox controller I'll treat you all to an entertaining landing... err, in any case you should see me coming :D

Hi Keith and CharterVA team,

I'd love to join, probably in a DHC-8-102 (QSeries in FGAddon). I'll have to figure out starting point depending on when I can begin my session.

@volador: If 747 is it the standard download from FGAddon?

@ OO ZVY: what is the download source for your C421? Will the FGAddon version fit?

Thanks, hope to see you tomorrow

Hi Oswald, everyone, I've just checked and it's the 747-8 Intercontinental - it's standard, it also has the freighter option in the same model

The following have indicated they hope to attend:-

Time - Pilot - Departure - Aircraft
to be decided - OOZVY - YSCB - Cessna 421 Golden Eagle
19:35 - chtadmin - YMML - Cessna 208 Grand Caravan
19:45 - Volador - YBBN - B747-8i or Cessna 172 or EC130
19:00 - KeithHadden - YMML - Cessna 208 Grand Caravan
19:00 - Oswald - YHOT - DHC-8-102
Allan Mullen YBCG - Boeing 757-300

Invitation is still open so we may still get some more participants.

I suggest everyone installs the aircraft

Looking forward to the fly-in, see you all later.

See you all later - I do hope the wind has calmed down though, I was over that way last night and there was a 29kt crosswind which made it interesting...
