FlightGear Air Racing League

Postby PINTO » Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:34 pm

You may have seen this discussed on discord, but FlightGear Air Racing League is officially open! We will be starting season one very soon!

We have a Discord server at https://discord.gg/HCAuU9D

General Rules:
- Aircraft must be downloaded from https://github.com/l0k1/ZivkoEdge. Only this aircraft is allowed.
- An FPS of at least 20 is highly recommended.
- A race will be announced in #news
- The race starts a timer. After the announcement, you have 72 hours to practice the race and submit a time.
- In order to submit a time, you must first announce in #results that you are performing your final race. You then have 5 minutes to post up your results log. If you DNF (do not finish), after submitting your event log you have an additional 5 minutes to attempt a re-run. Result logs are found in %FG_HOME%/Export. Please know how to find this, and know how to determine which race log is which, before completing your official run.
- Weather and time of day are not enforced at this time.

Race Rules:
- Smoke must be on during the whole race. Failure to run smoke is a 1 second penalty.
- Entry speed: A speed of 200 knots groundspeed to 201.99 knots groundspeed results in a 1 second penalty. 202 knots or greater results in a DNF.
- Your eye height being above the pylon, or below the bottom yellow bar on the pylon, will result in a 2 second penalty.
- A pylon collision is a 3 second penalty. 3 pylon collisions results in a DNF.
- Level flight is required when flying through a double pylon. Roll must be less than 10 degrees, and vertical speed must be less than 25 feet per second. There are separate 2 second penalties for both roll and vertical speed.
- If a G force reaches 11.00 through 11.99, there is a 1 second penalty. A G force of 12 or greater is a DNF.

Points:
The winner of a season is the person with the most points at the end of a season. The point distribution for each race is thus:
1st place - 10 points
2nd place - 7 points
3rd place - 5 points
4th place - 3 points
5th place and greater - 1 point
DNF - 0 points

Each season will consist of 8 races - races will normally be one week apart, and the racer will have 72 hours to complete a circuit after the race is announced.
