Operation Neptune

Postby Octal450 » Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:13 pm

Hi All

A few pilots will be meeting at Cardiff this Saturday 06/06/2020, and we will have a remembrance day for Operation Neptune.

[Often referred as D-Day!]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normandy_landings

Anyone is welcome to join, but we would appreciate pilots bringing appropriate equipment (ie. An era WWII aircraft of any nation)

Meeting information

  • Where? : Cardiff Airport (EGFF)
  • When? : 06/06/2020 @ 13:30Z
  • What? : Bring any WWII era aircraft

Route

On operation Neptune, allies forces crossed the channel following multiple routes, which are documented in this map:

We will attempt at replicating Force Bravo Route, via mostly visual navigation rules, according to this Skyvector map:

Attempting to land Visual rules at Cherbourg (LFRC)

JAFVA Pilots

Since this event coincides on date/time with our weekly JAFVA event, this will be a special occasion for JAFVA valid flight, to any JAFVA pilot whose current location coincides with Cardiff (EGFF)

For preparation

Please, kindly report what aircraft you're planning to bring below. So we can prepare beforehand and expedite departure.

See you soon
