I think it does, so glider towing may be out :(

OK, for anyone interested, I made another AI flightplan that starts you in the air off the coast of LFOH. There is also a text file with the launcher settings needed to start the Horsa in the correct location. As soon as you start yo need to be ready to hit ctrl+o, but weight for the DC3 to pass by you and give it a second to get out in front or it won't be initialized for tow connection yet. Once you connect make no erratic maneuvers or your finished before you get started. If you see the airspeed gauge go much over 120, your done. Also don't forget to release the parking brake as it is on by default shift+b. Is there a startup switch to release the brake?

If you don't catch it the first time you can usually stop and re-start the scenario if you maintain a good heading and get a second or third try to connect. By the time I was finished though it was working well the first attempt.

I updated the link in my previous post with the new AI scenario, flight plan and text file.

Now if anyone wants to participate in a glider and can't get a tow, they can use this. You could potentially take off at EGMC and time it to stop the first scenario and start the second scenario after the group has crossed most of the channel.

Eventually I plan to add some animations to the Horsa and maybe lighten the model up a bit more. Then we can save it in fgdata and the scenarios for use in years to come.

This is a really fun challenge!
It is not easy. At the course heading changes you need to be spot on in the turn or the elasticity of the rope or altitude changes will cause you to gain speed over 120kts. Descending is a bit tricky as well. You have to stay on top of it. The turn at LFOH about cost me the game. I was using the mouse and my hand was getting tired. Shortly after I stopped the video I spaced out and lost my concentration and did an unrecoverable nose dive.
This was using the start-In-air AI Script.

I hope I can join in Saturday. If you see a nut case being towed along the route, it'll probably be me.

Guys thanks a lot again for creating all this amazing stuff!!

As I am busy with RL I couldn’t test all those cool things and incorporate it into our flight so we will fly out birds into the drop zone without dragging gliders.

Sorry for that :)

I am sure we will have a great time tonight!

Looking forward flying with you guys!

I will have a look at the MP sound later and provide you a short update, you can unpack into the Sounds folder.

Let’s see if I can get it to work or did you find a solution enrogue?

Please note.
There is a different version of the DC3 than is listed in the first post.
The Flight is only supporting the Version from the first post. Alternative versions will probably not be seen and you will be an Yellow/Blue Glider ( which will get you ignored from the YouTube broadcast ).

I changed the DC-3 to the military livery version of the C-47 that comes with the Airspeed Horsa and animated the gear. Also changed the elasticity of the rope tow on the Airspeed Horsa so it isn't so difficult to tow. Lessened the break strength of the rope as well. Both files updated in earlier post.

I am curious if anyone was able to see me in the Airspeed Horsa being towed by the C-47? If so could you see both vehicles?

We will do the same on saturday the 8th of june!

I was born, as the Lord intended, in Germany. And I am deeply offended by this statement. Particularly the words "[...] heroes who fought against the Germans."
This does sound like someone fought to save the world from the big menace Germans[1]. Looking back, the so called aggressor, the Germans, just did what any regular community would have done if they were treated like they were after WWI. WWI's outcome was devastating for German people. And, just to remind you, WWI was _not_ started by the Germans. Quite the opposite. To quote wikipeter: "[...] the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy (the Triple Alliance was primarily defensive in nature, [...])".[2]

After WWI the Germans recovered fast, even though of the repressions they've had to suffer. Too fast, it seems, to certain individuals. And so the tracks were set to press the Germans into another, even more devastating, war, WWII[3].

To conclude this, your so called heroes just served a cause to fight the compulsion to freedom of an oppressed nation. Even worse, they fought in favor for the real menace. A menace that will come upon us all, soon. Pwnd.

[1] Yes, I mean "Germans" and not "Germany".
