FGPromo shooting 1/Airshow

Postby Foxtrot15 » Thu Dec 17, 2015 12:31 pm

FGPromo will be shooting its first shots on 26 December.

The timing is a bit limited as most people are only available on Saturdays, and we need to film in FG3.7.

According to the storyboard, we have two scenes that actually need more than two aircraft:
1) BAW66 Interception
2) Airshow

I will do the BAW66 interception with USAir26, PINTO, and Yesrev some time next week, but we need a lot of traffic for the airshow.

Basically, we need:
-6 pilots capable of holding tight formation in an airliner.
-Single F-14 pilot to fly a low-pass
-2 chase planes (with camera)
-2 people using model view to get shots

If you are interested, please post what time you are available and which role you would like. Do remember that footage would have to be FPS= 25 and resolution= 1280x720, as well as shot in FG3.7. For pilots I don't think the version matters.

P.s. The camera needs some improvements, anyone able to help? It's basically the Santa model with the sailplane viewed only and no annoying sounds, but if we could make it invisible it would be great!!

Why don't you just use the FG video assistant? After all, this is what it was created for :)

I can do a low pass...On Saturday. I will post the fgtape here: https://github.com/FGPromo
Please signup for a GitHub account, then we can upload all of the work to that GitHub project.

If you run low on people with quality computers to do the shooting you could perhaps do half the people but run the shots twice... yes? Just a thought.

True, but sooner or later someone will crash or lag...so it'll be better to have more people with better computers.

Just a thought, anyone ambitious enough (PINTO, USAIR26, fb237, etc..) to try this?

If not, please feel free to use any part of this for your video. In fact you can help yourself to any snippets from this channel from the last 6 months, for this promo, if you need a filler. I'm not even concerned about a credit. Though obviously you will need to overwrite any sound-tracks.

Ice-99. I'll need some heavy tutorials on the pull and other technical stuff...anyone know good tutorials online?

Thanks! Just wondering if the original footage fits the video definition and framerate requirements?

The originals will probably far exceed your requirements :D But these are very large files. If you think you might need something, I suggest that you just use a YT download for a rough. Then if you can specify exactly what you need (e.g.: from 1m24sec to 1m29sec of video X) I can always provide you with an extract from the original via DropBox.

Hmmm, but the location and weather is a little bit hard to fit in the video...how hard would it be to reenact the scenes?

Well if you take a look at the storyboard there is actually a scene at KRDU that will show aerobatics over the runway. I would like some pretty impressive aerobatics in any aircraft and i think that your would actually be quite nice to have. However, I would have to film it at KRDU in the same weather string as the airliners formation.

Hence, I would like to know how hard it would be to recreate the scene at KRDU. I know you did do some heavy work to get these footages, so if someone else would like to do the same, how hard would it be?

I'm assuming that you would be unavailable on the event time, but if you are it would be great!

OK, now that I better understand what you are looking for, I think the best option would be for me to produce an .fgtape for you. That way yourself or A.N. Other(s) could run it as required. You could do this either live over MP or separately at your leisure. I'll see what I can do 8)

26 December is "Boxing Day" for us Brits so I'm afraid I'm very unlikely to be available. Sorry.

EDIT: please specify which runway at KRDU
