First, thanks to Stuart to do some maintenance here, Second, the next festival will be in Japan (where is not so developed as Europe or USA), so we need some collaboration between scenery developers, there's a devel thread in thejabberwocky.net forum, i can't understand why isn't here.., (forum.flightgear.org is the official FG forum) but obviosly i think we need to work together with the japan community too (it's quite active). I think we need to organize well to do all the efforts usefull.

Catalonic, of course you may coordinate here, but it is easier to do it directly there, rather than crossposting. ;)
I will contact FGJP, thank you!

I've updated the first post with the following information:
  • IAHM-COL has announced he will man RJBB (Kansai International Airport);
  • Horacio Contreras (from the South-American Group "ViveFG") prepared a GPL scenery for RJGG a while ago; IAHM-COL and legoboyvdlp, in collaboration with him, are working to improve the ground layout and submit the scenery to TerraSync. d-laser will model the tower and terminal with Blender.

I have created a GitHub repository for storing OpenRadar routes, Route Manager files and ground networks. You can find it here - contributions are welcome. I'll also look into adding missing fixes and navaids for inclusion in apt.dat.

Finally, I'd like to (tentatively) announce I'll be manning RJAA (Tokyo Narita) - it is already modelled (with 3D buildings and an 850 layout) in X-Plane, so it will be quite easy to port to FlightGear. Moreover, it's quite near to RJBB, so there's a good chance (ATC permitting) we'll be able to offer full ATC coverage. I'd like, however, to hear other opinions and to check the scenery status in FG before making a firm commitment.

Hullo elgaton
1. I believe SHM is interested in Narita, too? (Scenery, not ATC!)
2, Correct, regarding to Chubu and Kansai.
Also, I have done Chitose in OSM, P3000, and WED.
Or rather, D-Laser did the generation, and P3000 ;)
3. Finally, Fukuoka is in progress. The layout is very nice in FG, but it needs models -- OSM will help with that. Already I have placed shared models.

Hi Oscar
Please go to thejabberwocky.net, and post in this topic:
http://thejabberwocky.net/viewtopic.php ... 0&start=30
You could possibly do Haneda...
Do you have any experience? Are you confident with phraseology?
Cheers!

Well, seen as this topic appears to have degenerated into little more than a recruiting ground for "The Club of The Banned", I guess it's time for me to take it off my bookmarks list :(

(Sorry for not crossposting more information earlier, I was away from home in the last days).

Summarizing current progress:
  • KIWI34 has stated he will be available for any "lower-level" (delivery/ground/tower) position in Japan; IAHM-COL suggested him and T-URBO to choose Chitose/Fukuoka, so as to provide a good coverage for the whole country:
    Image
  • IAHM-COL also suggested me to place my tower at Chubu instead of Narita (which is already covered by SHM) to be able to follow planes without clashing with the 100 nm MPServer limit:
    Image
  • As for scenery: SH-M has created a GitHub repository to coordinate work. So far, the 2D layouts for RJOS/RJBD are done and buildings for RJBD are being modeled.

I'll help getting new fixes into the official database.

Regarding IAHM-COL's suggestion of me covering Chubu, that sounds good to me. I plan to control Tokyo Center from about 20 to 00/01 Italian time (so 19 - 23/00 UTC if DST is not in effect) on both days.

I've got some doubts regarding placing an ATC at Hokkaido - I think it's too far from the other airports, and routes from/to it (taking the current ATC "reservations" into account) won't be completely controlled. A similar situation happened during the last edition of the Festival (see e.g. Lydiot's previous posts - 1 and 2). Maybe new, prospective ATCs could fill in delivery/ground/tower positions at already manned airports?

Finally, a note to the scenery modelers: a new version of WED was released - please update the tool. It contains a couple of validation fixes (especially for signs and taxiway segments) and will become the minimum required version for Gateway uploads in a few days.

Excellent! I've updated the first post.

KIWI34 has also stated his intent to control Fukuoka, while oscar6662 will be controlling Tokyo Haneda. I've added them as well.
