Well I was thinking a two day event, it's a fairly large and interesting island. and we're exploring it at ground level.

Question, would it be against everyone's better judgement to just keep it open for both days, come and go as you please? I might attend the Himalayan adventure, I don't see why we can't just show up as we want, We're adults, mostly..

Got to finish up the terrain download zip.

Gotcha. For some reason--wishful thinking?--I was assuming it would be a race.

A leisurely two-day tour is fine, too, and probably a better idea. I'm sure no one will want to race. Nope, no way. It simply couldn't possibly happen. And if, perchance, anyone pulls up next to me and starts revving his little ring-a-ding in a provocative manner, I shall ignore the challenge. Almost certainly. Probably.

Maybe. Well, I might try...

Naw you're gonna take that thoroughly .xml tweaked barn burner and show them your backside. Going fast is fun, until you spin out, or worse, and the guy in control passes you.

Yup, that's the ticket... :D

Honestly I'm running this completely hands off, it's your ride. Follow Someguy around if you want, follow me around iff'n you want . We probably don't know where we're going any more than the next guy. The Gestalt of this tour is akin to the Portland Alleyway Sweeper. ( Google the Youtube videos. ) You're given a place to start from, with a couple of bikes to ride. The route is roughly marked out with houses, trees, pedestrain overpasses, red and white concrete road curbing, and occasional tire padded abuttments at major turn points, and sharp turns. The bikes are capable of riding on rough ground up to a point. The Conifer and what I call the Heath terrain tiles are instant stoppages. You do have an onboard tow system, both winch and 'aero' tow. They don't reach very far, but can get you back on the road with some goofing around, or get you even more stuck with additional goofing around. There's always the reset button.

It's not a race, unless you want to see what your best time around the TT course is. Or you wanna try racing someone. We'll post up times if you all want, but it's not the point of this ride.

Oh yeah while I'm here... Linky to the scenery additions for the tour. http://www.mediafire.com/download/fdckyt44pdzptdu/EGNS.zip

Also, for one stop shopping, here's the bikes..http://www.mediafire.com/download/kqo15189t9od76w/Ducati-SS50.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/download/oihaho3cuq6t9l2/Vespa-GS125.zip

Instructions for scenery, Unzip to your active Scenery folder, it should find the correct subfolders, unless it doesn't... :?

Then just make sure that you manually copy the .ac's .png's and .xml's into the Data/Scenery/Models/EGNS folder that you'll have to add in Models, and make sure the .stg's make it into the Data/Scenery/Objects/W010N050/W005N055 folder. There should be a few default Isle of Man scenery .ac's in this object folder if you're having trouble finding it. Let it overwrite the old .stg's. The new scenery is mostly (image-wise) from SpeedDreams2.0, and is GPL, as are the models I made.

You're welcome.

Above all, have too much fun.

Well crap. I didn't see this event when I was figuring out a date for mine. (I guess I'm blind.) LesBof, since you posted your event earlier, you have first dibs on a date; I'd be happy to move mine so there aren't any conflicts.

qtscho, I don't see why we can't run both concurrently unless you really want to change your event's time. Your call. frankly I'm looking forward to another mountain event. especially with GA aircraft.

Late, last minute adjustment's to Someguy's EGNS groundnet with the addition of Creg-Ny-Baa, (Rock of the Cow) as a parking spot, and some fine tuning of the other spawning spots, so you don't have to cross country to get to the intersections, or the TT course.

If accessed through the in-sim menu, 'Locate Airport', you have the new spawn points at each major town on the TT course as you go clockwise roughly, starting with Ballacraine, after leaving the start/finish point in Douglas.

OK Well I forgot some tree .png's for a couple of the objects in the original zip, this post includes the new zip with extra imagery

http://www.mediafire.com/download/20z3rcheqeharza/EGNS.zip

this should fix the road edging with the white rectangles sitting next to it plus there's additional images that can be used for race banners.

Thanks to your efforts, now we have a highly recommended action for all FG'ers.

Indeed it is. We laughed our butts off, didn't we?

Thanks for sharing the ride with me last night, Michat. It's always more fun scooting in formation than scooting alone.

And when you're on Man, don't forget to sample Google Street View from mpmap. The scenery runs from peacefully-bucolic to breathtaking.

Well, TIL: someone simply browsing a forum thread can apparently make it appear "active"... and flightgear has motorcycles! Nice work, LesterBoffo, that looks very fun. Too bad about the Yasim problem on the "stuck" tiles though. And it does cry out for mesh road objects that would be smooth instead of following the terrain tiles...
