Hi folks,

hope you all spent a nice time and had a lovely week end.

I am doing fine but actually struggling to have time to finish to set up the Washington State 2 flights (1 only is too long to fit in an hour...)

Would you please consider the other flight we had "in the reserve bag" ?

thank you

For me, I'm very limited for time at the moment, let's just choose a past event. Preferences?

There is still "a new one in the bag".

I presented here in
https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39025&start=3585#p412466
but it does look like everyone zapped over.

It is in the Pyrenean Alps would also be a lovely flight.

and it is ready to go for information ALPHA

Perfect. Good call, Whoosh. Another very well prepared route. I'm tempted to fly the piper cub for this one :)
I'll just add (in case folks who attend are not confident to suggest routes) that we wouldn't expect this level of preparation every time, that is for the individual and all ideas from all of us are valid. Prep can take a little or a lot of your free time. Whoosh you win first prize for prep once again :D

:-)
avoiding by choice competition with third parties, I am happy to offer the prize to any whom feel entitlement or envy for it, but I appreciate your mention.

I can publish information ALPHA in the next 3 hours, if nothing/no one have something in contrary.

Tea and Cookie time, have a seat, have a sip...
(or feel free to zap to the next important post)

Names and Names
================

Woosh vs Whoosh
----------------------------

Regular English onomatopoeia : w h o o s h

My mangle : w h o o s h

(no H in 2nd position)

Woosh - used as a moniker - is kinda more unique.

Moniker vs Given Name
-----------------------------------
Why the moniker and why not use the given name.

1. by choice
2. "I" have a thing against the use of names in a language alien to the culture in immediate use.

I have grown up in a really multicultural family.
I speak 6 languages,
I am fluent in 4 of them
and my culture is definitely "multi".
(not bragging/just explaining the topo)

If people was talking French, names was used in their French declination,
If people was talking Italian, names was used their Italian declination,
If people was talking English, names was used in their English declination.

Names, actually, have meanings and meanings actually crosses cultures.

...Gaẽtan, Gaẽtane was called the inhabitant of the Gaeta Island...

Not according a Name to the language in use is not less a error then not using the plural teeth for tooth.
However this error have gone so much wide spread that it is largely overlooked.

Just remember how it did started:
When the "administration" started the "big census" a few centuries ago, they was unable to cope with the apparent differences in between:
- John / Jean
- Niels / Nico
- Lawrence / Laurent
...
the result was to state : "those are not the same".

While the limitations of the "Census machine" remains understandable,
that impoverished practice unfortunately suited also well the xenophobic fears and we could ear knives and idiots echoing and amplifying such "mentecapted" statement.

Not wanting to dubate about that, I am just wonder if the Irony of Culture going "Boom" global are going to impact this in same interesting manner.

However not everyone is multicultural
neither I can ask and expect to see such ways in use.

A moniker is thus an kind and kinda funny workaround.
No "H" in the second position is just a way to lift it from onomatopoeia to something more appropriate and usable for a human person.

Hoping the tea is still warm enough to provide that pleasant last sip.

Kind regards

:-)

So, since we don't seem to have anything proposed yet, I can draft up a quick 'Berlin by Night' event. The goal would be to visit all Berlin airports modelled in FG, during the night, using instrument navigation (or visual clues, at pilot's discretion). What do you think?
