Hello gentlemen! I hope that you are all doing well.

My piano teacher, for the first time ever, is unable to have a lesson this Wednesday, which means that I will be free to fly or control with you folks! I can help however you need.

Best wishes,
Matthew

Matthew, thank you - what a great offer. I'll be late to the event this Wednesday due to work so I'll go along with the consensus - it does seem like a great opportunity to put the comms into practice though.

Would be great, Mathew! Maybe you could "jump" between airports to keep everyone busy? Or you set us on route, take a break and welcome us again at LSZG?

At least at Grenchen we are using the real procedures, so you will need the "Sichtanflugkarte" http://www.airport-grenchen.ch/content/ ... 9669212963

The reporting point final RWY24 is "abeam Altreu", which we missed using last time(s).

Sure, I could do sessions at some different places! I will look at your plans.

I'm looking forward to this!

So we could just start on Mariusz' propose route and see how far we come.

Putting our new skills to practice.
For Les Eplatures you'll need

docs for the les Eplatures LSGC
https://www.moohw.com/media/ext/LS_AD_2 ... -11-23.pdf

Freq for the Zone
https://www.moohw.com/media/ext/LS_ENR_ ... -09-08.pdf

.dat file for FGExtend - for whom intend to use it - just copy past - ( plz backup yours before ... )
https://www.moohw.com/media/ext/FGExtend.dat
Note: AD frequencies have been labelled as TWR - due FGEXtend limitations

personal note about TWR vs AD
AFISO would have been nice to have but if you ask me, APP/TWR seem simpler to have working tonight ...

Yes, that was good fun.

I might hang around at LSZG, debugging either FDMs or my radio calls. Also I could be patient tower staff for anyone who wants to practice, but missed passed sessions.

As a challenge for one of the next sessions, how about doing downhill speedruns with engines at idle? I found out that the MiG-15 is a fun, fast, agile plane to fly. As a big difference from modern fighter jets it has substantially less drag. With a fast plane with relatively low drag you can, as an example, fly at extremely low altitude over the surface of the Aletsch Glacier, sail downhill with engine at idle, then when the glacier ends do that little short speedrun through the narrow canyon, and ..... now, when you pop out of the lower end of that canyon, the question is: can you still find an airstrip within reach so that you can safely put down your plane while not touching that throttle lever any more? It means, you have to do the canyon speedrun pretty fast, with almost no use of airbrakes, and this raises the adrenalin level if you want to stay low in the canyon.

So, what do you think about that type of challenge? How about "C" for cancel gravity or "D" for daredevil or "E" for economize your fuel?

Today, I'll look into creating a ring with blender and putting it with the UFO into a custom scenery. If I manage to do that, to create such rings to fly through to designate starts and mid points, then I could think of three or four such challenge tracks all around the Aletsch.

That is a kinda "Arcade"-style challenge … nice idea ! :) And drop me a note if you need any help with the scenery !

Sure, this is welcome! We had a similar discussion about such....

Maybe pushing it out for a few weeks, so we can make a good impression for our ATC-guest?

We could just complete the route we had last week.

Luffleine, let's see how to develop the idea for an event - does it have to be the F15 for example? can we develop the idea to general aviation engine out scenario - I understabd FG has the ability for others to instigate emergency conditions on other aircraft - could we explore the idea?

No problem pushing the arcade-style speedrun flying off for a while. Anyway I was unhappy that I missed last weeks Switzerland circle, there are some nice runways in narrow valleys in it like Sankt Stephan. Cool thing to still have some of those airstrips on the todo list for this week.

Eagle, yes, actually I'd appreciate some help, some context on how to put together a custom scenery pack in particular. Could we talk online at some point? Maybe quickly meet in the Mumble channel?
