Lester-Boffo wrote in Sun Jun 26, 2022 3:37 am:I don't know about you guys. My recollection of a Texaco event is usually a limited filling of gas the equivalent of aircraft hypermileaging. You're allowed to fill just once with a limited amount of fuel and you attempt to go as far as safely possible on that smidgen of petrol. Flying a big pane while refilling from a airborne tanker is not a Texaco Event.

If we're going to do a Texaco event there should be standards. The plane can only be filled once, while on he ground with ignition off. And it should be economical but draggy enough that you can't fudge the sim with thermals and sneakily refilling fuel in flight. Gerard Robin's Stampe is perfect for this event

It looks like, you have a very different event in mind. The idea was that I am doing racetrack patterns in a KC135, while you guys came in with E-3 Sentry or other capable aircraft to get topped up. Anything else would burst our 2h-timeframe.

Of course we can do a fuel economy event, which would be needed to set up in a different way.
Or a "on time, on fuel"-challenge to hone our flight-planning and execution skills.

Volador: Great, that you are onboard again! Backups have their purpose. No idea, if your xbox controller is sufficient... worth a try and it gives you an excuse!

edit: typos.
If we modify a car and the C172 we can try to beat the 64days endurance record.

 Who got a PC capable of running FG at 32x the normal speed ? Then it'll take only two days to get it done …

This would be quite a timesaver :-) Good luck with the 3min tanking shrinked down to 5s

@Lester: May I ask you to edit the information post in the information thread here ?: https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39213&start=60#p402132
Just in the same manner as the previous ones including link to aircraft and route.
Most of us come directly from work/dinner/family with little time to prepare, so all information should be in one place.
Thank you very much indeed!

Nothing has changed, it's still on for this coming Wednesday if you have the time. The Cygnet has some updates with a new couple of instruments, the link is in the airplane development sub forum.

Yeah that works. Eagle had posted up one earlier that was simpler. I tend to treat these maps as rough guides since this is largely VFR.

YES!!!!! That was fast! Hopefully she will make it in the wild!

Foxtrott posted. This is going to be fun!

For the next weeks we might return to normal cruising.
