Well you can also approach without flaps. Usually that is not a problem because ils approaches have long runways

I hope you've all got your life vests ready for Wednesday, I'll admit I did one trail run over the weekend and ended up in the water at one airport (in the 182). You are welcome to guess our destination in this thread but I will not give anything away until 18:15 UTC on Mumble/Special events/GA-Wednesday and on the information thread (takeoff is 18:30UTC) https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39213&start=15#p392471. I'll also post the skyvector route at the same time. I've also sourced some 'ambience' for our event (creative commons of course) ...I'll say no more. Once again everyone is welcome to join the event :D

Just planning ahead as this event is unusual, would it be wise to start at a random airport so that we can get planes loaded etc then move location to the actual departure airport at 18:15 ready for 18:30 departure? I understand there are parking slots at our departure airport so we'd need to coordinate or use Phi map before logging on to multiplayer to avoid collisions. Any thoughts?

I would say that starting the sim at 18:15 should be enough.
We can assign parking slots anonymously, like this:

- Volador: P1
- Beni: P2 / C182s
- ...?

At 18:15 you assign us a list with the real numbers at the information posting or so. We are then launching the sim at that position, or move to that position prior joining multiplayer.

Do you mean you have submitted some models to TerraSync ? Else we would also have to download the custom scenery before takeoff !

Sorry, I should have explained better, 'audio ambience' - as long as you have mumble running you'll be able to appreciate it (or turn it down) or even turn it up :D (right click on a user in mumble allows local volume control for those who do not know - handy for balancing the various voice levels)

You mean - a fake mumble user that plays music all the time ?

Yes, all creative commons cleared before anyone asks about copyright and re-transmission

Did you write a bit for that?
I have a bot ready that can play OGG files ready here (from the fgcom-mumble project)
Just in case

I didn't write any of the tracks for tomorrow's event and good to know you've got the facility too Beni, I couldn't share the genre (until tomorrow) as that would give the location away...
