The Caudron G3 is also difficult on the ground.
The Fokker E III is nice in flight but difficult to land and ground control.

albatros B II and same issue

and finally the Dunne D 5 in just unflyable.

Lester, you are very welcome with this idea!!!

Didn't we have a JSBSim Sopwith Camel? Have to dig deep in the forum (and when done correctly, such a FDM will NOT please everyone.)

Aircraft is meant to be very unstable. High moments due to the rotary engine, very little damping in the landing gear. In other words: Aircraft is constantly trying to kill you.

or https://github.com/bhugh/SopwithCamel-JSBSim-Flightgear/archive/2.0delta.zip
to be tested

Considering Lester's work, there will be a VERY impressive lineup of aircrafts. Looking forward to the one!

Disregard. Flightgear 2.0 aircraft are not compatible? It is not even finding it in the launcher.

did you reduce the filter settings in the launcher's aircraft list? the sopwithcamel should be there... i see it in my fgaddon so it should be available in the hanger, too... but it is either a YASim or UIUC/LARCSim craft... there are three -set.xml files so there should be three variations...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Early aviation plane is a good idea for air show and local pattern. :P
Should be nice to have a 'camera operator' located on the field to record the event.

Make a good choice of the plane : Flight handling sometime not easy due to FDM or actual aircraft design ( Tailwheel ).
Vickers Vimy test : flight characteristics and ground handling ok, not easy to flare on landing.

I tried the Caproni Ca 3 and Caudron G IV but couldn't control these during taxi or take off....

I have several newer FDM for these old classics of Helijah's that fix the ground handling, plus the tail-draggers I've made also ground control well enough. Videos of my own aircraft

Not to get too granular in discussion but WWI aircraft by nature were hard to steer on the ground because of tail skids and narrow wheel tracks, they often times had a couple ground crew following them to hold back on the wing struts and dig their heels in help pivot aircraft for mass take offs. Most time it was line up on the huge mowed field and point your nose into the prevailing wind and let'er rip.

thanks for the hints. The manually added version does not show up like the other aircraft in my hangar. Anyway enough nice airplanes to play with :)

it should if it is installed in your private custom craft directory and FG is pointed to it properly... i have several installs of the c172p (for example) here and they all work indepentently of each other... i only have to look closely at the launcher to see the path the one i select is in to know i have the desired one...

they do look nice... actually controlling them is something else, though

Also, if the ArcGIS API server should go down again before you have downloaded all the photoscenery, I can send you each a one-time download ZIP with them … But rather download them tonight - I just checked, the server is running
