@ benith

start with c182s
debug .. etc
/fdm/jsbsim/ice graphic is 0
tried to changed in debug menu to 1 but gets back to 0

in Nasal console

setprop("/fdm/jsbsim/ice/graphic", 1);
it changes back to 0
same effect

Why not ? There is a high mountain, too  (Mt. Spathi)

@all: Thanks for this great session - I really enjoyed it (partly because I was using audio comms :) )

It was very nice to hear your voice, Eagle! That really made a difference.

For me the trip was also very nice and funny, the water landings were great fun!
Glad that i could make it in time.

And thank you very much for helping me debug the C182S black plane issue. We have solved it:
My conclusion currently for this is the following:

  • The current GIT master, as well as the trunk FGAddon Version is OK and not affected.
  • The current stable hangar still has an old C182 version. That version has the "black bug".
    • everyone not using next, or using the stable hangar, has the old version and thus the problem.
      • Volador did have the old version and seen the black plane.
      • Woodstock had an old version hidden in an old aircraft dir. After removing that the problem was gone, because he used the new version.
=> So, I think we are safe to close the issue. After stable release of 2020.4, the problem should be gone for everyone.

For next week let me see if I can make out a nice route for us.
Something along this: https://skyvector.com/?ll=46.0273864974 ... 613N00610E
Or is this too long?

I would want to use solely mumble for this, so please go ahead and install a client.
As we fixed the C182s issue, it would be cool to celebrate this by all fetching the latest version (Chris: Fix your hangar reference in launcher! you are using an old one, but should use the trunk one); it can do 130 knots, so we would have about an hour flight time.

Confirmed, somehow managed to get out of unexpected 'hole in the water'.
But wait, this can be turned into a feature
Instead of fixing, how about some advertising: "some lakes have underwater monsters, which will grab your floats and make you fight for freedom. A unique feature, nobody else does that."

But, jokes aside, I think I encountered this irregularity in the water near the line on the map denoting administrative border:

so this might be a factor to consider in terrain generating logic.

Great event - again.

First destination - what a view:

Second destination - rush hour?

And final destination, with a twist in perspective

Thanks to everyone.

Thank you everyone for joining in and welcome to F-MATT who joined from the other side of the pond - I'm guessing it was early morning over there (great effort). Good to hear voices on the comms (you too at last TheEagle!) and I agree Mumble is going to be more practical given the difference in bandwidth for our different connections and setups. If we do use jitsi in the future I discovered (by accident) that pressing 'A' brought up an option to choose low bandwidth for video, although I don't know if it also affects the audio bandwidth, in any case Mumble seemed to work fine for most of us later in the trip. And, talking of accidents - I think I set a new record for trashing aircraft on this trip and you can throw all the advice about swapping the 208B configuration mid-flight out the window (but it could be my lack of skills) however I found that the C172 180hp amphibious did just fine for the last few legs. Thanks beni for digging into the black aircraft issue (I do need to consolidate aircraft folders here as it seems they are everywhere since going from 2020.3.8 to 2020.4)

Well, my problem was not jitsi eating too much bandwidth, but rather bringing down my framerate - do you experience the same effects ? With mumble it was much better !
