I can fly 80NMh, min. maybe 75NMh. Hopefully no problem.
I will try to install my headphones in ubuntu. Never have done it before.
Timezone in Austria is the same as in Germany so

Can I fly with you? That would be the first multiplayer event for me. The only plane i can somehow fly is the dhc6. would that be ok? Except for the A320.
The landings are ridiculous so far, I think everyone is laughing.
I always fight with the chessna 172. Don't ask me why.

Greetings powoflight, I know what you mean about the C172, I struggled at the start but with some practice it got better. The aircraft will naturally pull to the left especially on full power on takeoff, this is expected due to the propeller and this means correcting with the rudder, it can be quite tricky. (well it is on an xbox controller) Also touch down speed should be as slow as you can go, bleed off the speed and even wait for the stall warning to sound before allowing the wheels to touch and keep on the rudder once you touch down. I hope that helps.

[edit] It also has a basic but very useful autopilot once you are in cruise

What a beautiful and challenging trip! I really enjoyed the hunting down of your markings :)
The Tatry mountain was nice to look at :)
In one occasion i wrongly intercepted the ils (too early) and then followed a false lobe, which turned out as an interesting experience :)

And the fellow pilots were nice as always, and i also enjoyed hearing new voices!

Thanks for the details. I tried to reproduce yesterday with two local instances, but failed. I tried both with my git version as well as just the hangar version installed.

I wonder what’s causing this

This was real fun.
Had some problems with the usb headphone at the beginning.
Destroyed my USB Saitek Joke configuration. No elevation ....
I noticed it first when I was taking off on the runway :x :x :x
Unplug the Headset. Reboot PC and used my Smartphone with the Jitsi App.
That worked well.

@Mariuszxc thank you for organising this. Thanks everyone for the chat and another enjoyable trip. Some of the instrument navigation techniques were new to me and this was very interesting - and thank you Beni for the explanations and advice. (I still need more practice though)
@Fahim - sorry you had audio issues I hope you can sort it for next time - is mumble more reliable for everyone? the only advantage of jitsi is the screen share which is great for explaining things but perhaps it chews up internet bandwidth and cpu for some.

Another thing that has been at the back of my mind is the lighting in the afternoon and evenings in FG, I appreciate there will be some complex stuff going on under the hood (and our eyes adjust 'exposure' in the real world) but it does seem like it gets very dark *before* the sun has set and our screenshots show these generally very dark scenes. (I've noticed across different systems and monitors too which will have their own unique calibrations). I noticed there is a gamma level adjustment but this only comes with a fringing effect for the field of view.

I am really glad that you enjoyed it. Listening to how @benih described instrument use I also learned a thing or two - thanks :-)
A couple of memories:
- waiting for departure
Image
- first visual checkpoint
Image
- someone speeding for the mountains :)
Image
- and evening at a final destination.
Image
Thank you for accepting the idea and joining, it was fun.

Edit, found two more:
- looking for localizer intercept
Image
- turning into the valley

The first localizer map image is funny :)
That was where i followed the false lobe (and instruments were indicating correctly!)
What i learned is that for ILS interception you really need to follow the chart (which i didn't have). There is a reason for published IAF-fixes on these maps, as it turned out :)

Thanks from my side as well Mariuszxc for suggesting this new part of the world (atleast for me)!

@Volador, I'm really not sure what the issue with jitsi is, I tried searching online as well but no luck. It seems like none of the streams (audio, video, screenshare) are transmitted to me at all. I tried Safari, Chrome and even the iOS app with no luck. Last week it somehow resolved by itself after me staying in the call for a while, but not this time unfortunately. Mumble does work well for me though, so if it works for everyone that would be a nice alternative.

I think mumble would be great for voice comms.
we can fire up jitsi if needed in special cases (like showing stuff yesterday), but i think the default should be mumble (on the standard fgfs server).

For next Wednesday I have another idea which will involve aircraft with floats, specifically you may need the Cessna Caravan because you'll need both gear and floats for what I've got planned and this can do both quite nicely - you can also choose glass cockpit if you wish (thank you, epilot!).

Once again, everyone is welcome to join the trip. Meet and chat from 18:30 UTC on jitsi or mumble, wheels and floats up at 19:00 UTC with about 50 minutes flying plus stops (so about 1hr 30mins total).

We will depart Sion LSGS on wheels heading South West, there will be two landing challenges, two water and one on a shorter runway LFHM, ...ok three water ladings if you count our final destination the Geneva fountain (or the airport for the faint of heart) for a mocktail or cocktail (your choice) but fingers crossed you'll have the hang of it by then.

Route here: [edited since posting to include a new stop off]
https://skyvector.com/?ll=46.027386497445235,6.909370434062046&chart=301&zoom=1&fpl=N0140A050%20LSGS%204607N00705E%204607N00701E%204603N00657E%204605N00655E%204603N00656E%204559N00655E%204554N00649E%204556N00645E%204552N00637E%20LFHM%204551N00636E%204549N00631E%204545N00628E%204546N00622E%204545N00615E%204551N00610E%204604N00603E%204613N00610E

As usual any thoughts or contributions for popping in some scenery are welcome or slight time shifts for the start so the majority can make it. I'm fairly certain you'll need to practice water landings and also the catchphrase "o-oh, das ist nicht gut"

I bring the trusty C172p as it has floats too, and can probably do the 120 knots :)

Maybe i do also the caravan. Which one exactly are we talking? (the yasmin variant, or the "grand caravan"?)
