Hi Jomo,

What site do you recommend using to create a flight plan that I can upload into my .fgfs /Export folder?

Sorry - I have no idea what/how/forWhat you want to use the Export-folder. You may have noticed that that is a "hidden" folder - so not for manual usage.
For normal flight-plans we use the http://flightgear-atc.alwaysdata.net/ - that can be downloaded.

I think he means an FP that can be loaded in the routemanager. Use Simbrief (https://www.simbrief.com/home/), you will have to make a free account. From simbrief there is an option once you have made the OFP to load it in skyvector, from skyvector, download the .gpx file, and load it into the routemanager (just keep it in your downloads, then select it from the routemanager).

Yes, I use SimBrief when I fly out with a route. It works very well.

@Wecsje : Superb, that works great! But: in SkyVector you have to adjust the SID/STAR designators before download, like instead "ERLAD" modify to "ERLA2K", then you'll have all SID/STAR waypoints. Strangly enough SID/STAR modifications cannot be done with the MCDU once you load a FP via route manager. So when ATC unexpectedly clears you for "ERLA2Z" you'll have to clear and type waypoints manually (which is no big deal).

@ it0uchpods : Hopefully your A320 will allow to load company routes via MCDU? That would be nice! The FsLabs Bus for example loads the filed VATSIM data if I remember correctly.

Thanks for your help and advice guys.
The reason I mentioned ".fgfs /Export" folder is because when I click on "/Autopilot/Route Manager/ Load/" that's the folder it opens.
But I suppose the flight plan can be saved anywhere.
Again, thanks for your advice.

@SVW

I don't use SkyVector for the SID/STAR's, I use navigraph level d data (modified, and used a script to put it into the right place). I only fly on VATSIM, so having up to date FMS data is very important for me. I do my VATSIM pre-filing with Simbrief aswell. The IDG-A32X and -A33X will both get a fully working MCDU, and will allow for routes to be loaded in via the company route line (IIRC).

@AAL545

The FP can be saved anywhere, and the window that opens is a normal windows explorer window, so you can just navigate to your downloads for example.

Hi Jomo,

I have created a flight plan and have opened it in FG route manager and it works, so now I have a question.
Can you use a FP that is inbound EDDF or are you only interested in outbound?
Also, now what? Where do I upload it for you to see and how?

It might be worth adding though that a Flight plan may be edited (Flight levels) in the route planner window whilst in flightgear BUT this cannot be saved back to the original UNLESS the flightplan is saved into the "Roaming" folder, It will just throw up a error in saving statement

this is incorrect... the ~/.fgfs/Export folder is the default folder for exporting and importing flight plans as well as some other files (eg: flight tapes)...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

Agreed, This folder is not "hidden" it just takes some finding in Windows 10! It took me a while to locate it, I just keep a shortcut on the desktop now it saves a lot of time

One more thing, can't find how to add the waypoints in Simbrief.
Shouldn't I have the takeoff waypoints if I share the FP with an ATC.

What do you mean with takeoff waypoints?

@SVW

Very nice, my callsign is DLH208J or WS208J on VATSIM. I also stream my flights on twitch :D

takeoff waypoints? do you mean Standard Instrument Departure (SID)? they are unique to each airport and may or may not be used depending on several factors...
