Re: Space Shuttle - Development

... previously, this is the kind of feature that may turn out to become the incentive to help bootstrap the integration of a corresponding compositor/compositeviewer canvas "view" element ... so it would obviously be interesting to look at what you've got by now, and what's missing. Jules ...

Re: A320-family development

... who came up with the terrain layer, but if the corresponding people are here on the forum, we could discuss how to improve this until a CanvasView/CompositeViewer based ortho mode becomes available - obviously, it would also be possible to patch up the C++ code directly. We do have existing code ...

Re: Optimizing Scenery

... so that the onus is no longer on core developers to create contents - with the recent work on the compositor, world scenery 3.0 and the CompositeViewer/Canvas views, it's likely that these developments are -once again- huge technology enablers for content developers in the future. So, ...

Re: Space Shuttle - Development

I have a question/comment to anticipate this. Right now, the only way to change the view offsets dynamically is to change them on current view with some conditionals on which view is "current". If the canvas view lands, we cannot have that any more, there will be more than one current-vie...

Re: Space Shuttle - Development

... any more, there will be more than one current-view! Any plan for this? Right, that can actually be looked up on the wiki - in the pre-Compositor/CompositeViewer days, the idea was to port the existing view manager to get rid of tied properties, and to turn it into a class that supports multiple ...

Re: Mirrors

To be honest, this might seem like something that is almost around the next corner - especially because the Compositor and CompositeViewer efforts gained quite some traction recently. On the other hand, these feature requests and discussions are even dating back to the pre Canvas days. ...

In addition, Jules has been working on a new/improved view manager implementation that supports multiple independent instances/views ...

... than those only wanting to use a finished feature. FlightGear/next already contains the key components for this feature: 1) the Compositor and 2) CompositeViewer support. What is missing (and what the patch is all about), is the custom Canvas element that registers its own CompositeViewer Camera ...

Re: Mirrors

... it's best to check back with the developers mailing list - what we've got for now is basically "proof-of-concept" to integrate Jules' CompositeViewer work with Fernando's Compositor - all wrapped in a dedicated Canvas element. In addition, Jules has been working on a new view manager, ...

Re: Mirrors

Yes, mirrors are in the works using CompositeViewer and Canvas:

But it needs some more time to implement.

Re: A320-family development

... Once you have solved that, you are all done. What I meant to point out is that this is exactly solved by those other approaches, and by the CompositeViewer+Compositor+Canvas Cam approach altogether - because at that point you're just rendering a custom bird's eye view to a compositor/compositeviewer ...
