2.0 Startup issue

Postby Avionyx » Sun Mar 21, 2010 8:39 pm

Hi Guys,

Right, running FG on my Macbook seems to be a bit of a problem and I havent been able to do anything that gets me any further in any direction.
The launcher starts up and I can select any combination of aircraft and airports, as soon as the main window launches and gets to initialising the scenery it closes and takes me back to the launcher.

The only 2 lines in the log are:

GraphicsWindowCarbon::grabFocusIfPointerInWindow
Unknown exception in the main loop. Aborting...

I dont have any other FG installs on this machine and I've uninstalled, redownloaded the package and reinstalled several times.
This also happens with the pre-release version but 1.9.1 works fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just stabbing at ideas from past issues, try running with terrasync box _unchecked_, and see if it starts up. Set your log to debug or higher to capture as much info as possible.

So would I be right in thinking that its the : initializing FGMacOSXEventInput
Thats causing the issue?

Try one thing more for me - It appears that you have "full screen" mode turned on. Turn that off. I run FG on an intel macbook pro, and every version of 2.0 (pre1,pre2,pre3) has not been able to run Full Screen mode. I was using the optional 1440x900 (my screen size), but with the header bar it dropped it 21 pix low, so I customized the menu to 1440 x 879.

Otherwise, You'll have to ask someone better than me. As far as I know, it could be triggered by the Eventinput, or it could be the next item in the sequence to load that is causing the exception. If someone can't help here you may want to email Tat.

I am assuming you've tried this is it's bare-est form - default aircraft such as the C172, with no boxes checked - (no MP, Terrasync, METAR, etc, etc)

Peter,

Actually I have full screen mode turned off, not sure why it seems to think its on. I've never run it with it on. Have just tried ticking the box and running it WITH it on but same result.

I think this build might be a no-no for me.

Hello

I'm using MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.3. I also faced the same issue but managed to solve the problem. My earlier problem was that the system would start loading and then crash at "initializing subsystems".

The solution: to turn off my Apple Mighty mouse, which is running using Bluetooth (wireless).

I get the solution from the following website (reply #8): http://sourceforge.net/projects/macflightgear/forums/forum/431588/topic/3507200

Good luck!

I got this problem like a month ago. All of a sudden fgfs failed at startup (it was starting up earlier). On my flight back from college a few days ago, just to see if anything changed, I tried starting up Flightgear, and it worked! It was working for a few days and today it's failing again. Then I realized there was a bluetooth mighty mouse nearby which was paired to my computer! Problem solved! Thanks so much!
