Ikarus C42 Microlite

Postby VicMar » Sat Jan 28, 2012 1:22 pm

Hi, Has anyone already made the Ikarus C42 for FG?

If so could you please lead me to the download.

If not, I might have a go myself.

Cheers,

Thanks Gijs,

Is there a simple way for me to download this aircraft?

I am totally ignorant regarding getting stuff from the repositories.

Is there a set of instructions hidden in the wiki that I could read on how?

Cheers,
Vic

1. Click on "source tree" to open the repository. You can now browse through all the files.
2. Click on "Download master as tar.gz" to download the entire repository (won't work on fgdata, as that one is several GB, but for small repositories like this it works).

Thanks Gijs,

I shouldn't speak for anyone else, but for me this forum would be totally different if you weren't here.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Vic

I did a quick fix on the model today:
- Plugged in some random instruments
- fixed some nasal errors.
- hid the 3-d line drawings in FG

The startup procedure now needs the battery and alternator switches turned on. They are mapped to the ( and ) keys. The } key is overloaded to be the starter key, too. So the key sequence '( ) } } } }' will start the engine.

Hi Ron,

Have you updated the files in the repository, or will you announce when there is a version for us to look at?

You can see his updates on the project page: https://gitorious.org/ikarus
Click on the "2 commits" for example, to see the commit messages (tells you what's changed).

The commit log is less clicking: https://gitorious.org/ikarus/mainline/commits/master

I've done some work in the past week or so. Its a very flyable model now, if you don't mind the lack of a 3d outside. :P

Vicmar is supposed to be working on that.

lack of a 3d outside:
Ron said,

I shall have a completed outside very soon (I shall let Ron approve it before anyone else sees it), then I shall be texturing it soon after that.

Watch this space.

I pulled the snapshot from gitorious and created a repo at github:
https://github.com/mherweg/Ikarus

The aircraft is flyable.
3D Model looks good.

Todo list for me and anyone who is interested:

It has 4 flaps settings - the original C42-B has only 3.
livery, seats, joystick, pedals, magnetic compass, choke, carb. heat, flap-handle, air intakes, wheel cover, rudder trim surface,
3 switches: fuel pump, strobe, landing light

last week I allso got interested in the c42 and downloaded the aircaft to start learning aircaft modeling.
The original model is a little distorted, because the reference images are off.
I have tweaked the model a little, but not shure about the right techniques for modeling and animation.

hi lehol ,

nice to see that you are also interested.

You say the model in my repo by Ron Jensen (jentron) is distorted ?
Or which model ?
The aircraft I am working on
has animated control surfaces, gear dampers, front wheel steering.

In case you want to model & animate the stick or the flap handle,
you can have a look at the xml files of other FG models, e.g. sailplanes and helicopter.
