Replay of Raw Flight Conditions

Connecting two computers, using generic protocol, connecting with Matlab?

Replay of Raw Flight Conditions

Postby shinden252 » Sun Dec 04, 2011 10:31 pm

Has anyone used Flight Gear to reply existing flight data rather than as a piloted sim? I have a set of flight condition data from another simulation that I would like to replay realtime. The data set includes all rates and states, so it can bypass the aeromodel. A generic cockpit and out the window view is all I need. Does anyone have experience using FG for this kind of thing?

It is most probably possible using the generic protocol, but it might require a bit of configuration and possibly some work on the input data.

Have a look at the FlightGear wiki pages Generic Protocol and Howto: Create a generic protocol for an introduction. Also search the forum for "generic protocol" (now when you know its name). :D

Hi & welcome,

this is something that has been done repeatedly by numerous FlightGear users, hobby users and professional ones.
My suggestion would be doing a forum/mailing list search, that should give you a thorough overview concerning the options available.
I have done a quick search to provide a bunch of links to get you started. Basically, there are at least half a dozen different approaches possible, the most feasible one will depend on your requirements:

We can give you further information, once you fully understand your requirements and the options available in FlightGear.

PS: This sub forum in particular should provide a bunch of relevant of pointers, too.
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit
Thanks & all the best,
