How to install KLAX?

Postby LewisW » Thu Apr 14, 2011 4:53 pm

I've downloaded Los Angeles Intl airport but when I looked in the package it doesn't seem to have sub-folders. I can't seem to find a way to install it.

Hi LewisW ,

You need to unzip the download as far as the folder.
Launch FG, but don't start a flight.
Click on the little triangle next to "Advanced Features'.
Then go to the 'Others' page of the FG launcher.
Then click on 'Install Add-on Data'. This will produce the chooser.
Then select the folder and click to open it.

This lets your mac launcher place the folder exactly where it needs to be.
It only takes a few seconds, and it will give you a message when it has finished the install.

Cheers,
Vic

Not enough info. Try helping me/us to help you.

Which version of FG
Which version of OS X?
What have you tried?
What DOES happen?
Do you get any reports?
Have you tried changing the log setting to 'info'?
If yes, show us the report.

There's more to than "Doesn't work".

OK. Lets try something else.

I see you have 'Download scenery on the fly' ticked. Try flying from another airport in the ufo ('cos it can fly at nearly 3.000 mph) and fly to the KLAX long/lat.

That way Terrasync should load the latest scenery in the database as you fly towards it. If you haven't flown outside the default area before, you will not have a 'Terrasync-Scenery' folder in your data folder. This first flight should produce one for you.

If the airport you start from has not already been loaded before, you might find your ufo sitting on top of some water when you start the flight - don't worry make the flight anyway. Provided you start somewhere well away from KLAX, and head towards it, the scenery will load in front of you as you fly. You will probably see the tile edge in the distance as you approach it.

When you reach KLAX, the scenery will be there for the future. This is, of course, the official scenery version. If you want to replace that with a custom build which has been downloaded from one of the 'outside official FG' sites, you will have to swap the .ac files which comprise the airport.

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Vic
