FlightGear for Mac dying?

Postby Lightman » Tue Nov 09, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi guys,

Is it my imagination, or is the Mac version of FlightGear slowing down in terms of development? Almost a month since the last post and 1.9 seems to have been the last stable, usable version.

Sorry to moan.

No, just Curt didn't updated the FlightGear's page. (When will we get a better Homepage... )

Quite the opposite of dying - FG is working extremely well on Mac, and many small improvements have been made that will be in the next release.

Whether any particular version is usable may depend on your hardware, in particular the video card. 2.0 ran poorly on my late 2006 iMac (white Intel C2D), but the git snapshot is a joy on my new Core i3 iMac, even with all shaders enabled. It's not as stable as 2.0, but holy mackerel is it pretty!

I concur. I am able to use 1.9.1, 2.0.0, and the GIT version provided for us by Tat on the Mas OSX page. http://macflightgear.sourceforge.net/home/

Perhaps a look at your set-up would give you better results.

Try giving us your computer's details and see if anything obvious glares at us.

Cheers,
Vic
