How about this?
By way of explanation. Earlier this year, my daughter and I went for a joy flight around Albert Park Lake (Melbourne) during this year's Australian Grand Prix. During the flight, I took a video from my smart phone hoping that one day I could use the footage as a reference to help with improving the FG scenery myself.
For comparison, I give you the below five images:
Below Image, STD FlightGear scenery
You can see where the landclass needs fixing as the road just below the tail is the
boundary of the reserve and there shouldn't be any buildings to the left of it (See below photo).
Oh and the lake itself is completely missing. FlightGear OpenStreetMap enhanced scenery (without updated landclass data)
You can see the Eureka tower in the top right (tall skinny building) & the Sports and Aquatic Centre (large flat building in the top left)
as well as the buildings correctly placed around the race track not to mention the distinctive cloverleaf shaped building (middle right).Still image from our helicopter flight
The new OSM city skyline is amazing when you compare it to the real life image. And what tour of Melbourne would be complete without an image of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)?
OSM FlightGear
Its the building in the top right.
Not too bad at all considering the stadium was auto-generated from OSM dataAnother still from the earlier joy flight for comparison
I must say, I'm impressed with what you guys have done and can't wait for the updated landclass as the
coast, lake and Yarra river are all far from accurate in the standard scenery.
Flying in FG now is even more fun as I find I'm looking around at the buildings and landmarks trying to see
if I can recognise just them as I do whenever I get the opportunity to fly in real life.
Very cool work indeed.
