Are the white house and pentagon even in fg? If not I might do some work on the D.C. scenery...

Hi JVC, the UN Headquarters is yours if you would like it, thanks again for the Empire State building, it looks great.

jack, there are a few models in and around the DC area already, but I don't think the white house is one of them. I know the Pentagon, the monument, the Air and Space Museum, and RFK Stadium are in the database, though.

Here is the base for the liberty statue textured with my own photos and aerial USGS (model kindly provided by MOJO). I will ask Sanctuary if he is available to model also the statue of liberty (as he modeled really well Christ the Redeemer). MOJO sent me also a very high poly model of the lady but I think we could not release it under GPL license.

This will be fixed in the next scenery release, I promise! Thank you for your contribution.

Also, the Penn Plaza buildings on the west side of uptown have been added to the database!

Except... the top of the UN building is... see-through...!?
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

They always said the UN needed more transparency.

Yeah, at least on my computer, Flightgear's graphic engine seems to have problem dealing with low resolution texture with alpha. Someone it works, sometimes not depending on the camera. A solution is to make the texture much bigger, but it will use more memory space. I hope this will be fixed as soon as possible.

[EDIT]
BTW, the generic building for the UN-HQ isn't removed on terrasync (I don't know who take care of it):

Please avoid texture with alpha channel. There is a huge performance penalty and they appear through clouds

That's good to know. I'm going to update my models to reduce the most alpha channels as possible (with some case, I think using an alpha texture is faster than using hundreds of polygons). I don't like speed issues too.

The graphic engine must be improved then.

Thanks for your remarks!

Finally here is the statue of liberty also with night textures. (the screenshoots are taken in KSFO just for testing cause I have not yet downloaded the NYC tile!)
The night texture is made with blender using the bake button after adding lights to the 3d model. I think it turned out pretty good. A big thank you goes to Sanctuary because he created the low poly model of the statue. Also MOJO deserves a thank you because provided me the base model that I modified by adding more details.
The model will be added to the official scenery because all could be released under GPL (the texture comes from photos that I've taken in a trip to NYC).
