Sunrises (version 1.3 available)

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

Oh, wow! 8)

That does a lot to the visual appearance, even more than I would have expected. Thanks! :D

Credit for the depth map goes to Emilian (I think) - I just used the technique in ALS.

Peeked into fgdat/Textures/Globe on gitorious. Looks very promising. :D

A bit off topic I would guess at some later point in time the Blue Marble texture could be used for high altitude flight, in essence airliners and similar, but work on that is probably already going on elsewhere as there is a mention of "SimGear Paged Terrain".

I've always wanted to do that, but the dirt runways in the old scenery had a bug in the uv-mapping which is now fixed - so in recent GIT you can now enjoy procedurally textured dirt runways.

Here's an example where I let some grass patches from the airport green leak into the runway proper, and put some wet puddles on.

Ultimately, they'll be regionally configurable, so we'll have true sand strips in the desert.
