Bob, so that means once can buy the "sim", install it, ask for a refund, get the money back and still continue using the product?

This this is most propably not legal. By buying the product you establish a contract and by stepping back from the contract you have no usage rights any more.
GPL or not, buying the packaged version (eg. on DVDs) you get a license which grants exclusive usage rights and without that license it is obsolete. FlightSimPro might treat this as a pirated copy and distributing it inside the FlightGear community makes us vulnerable to piracy claims. So better stop advertising this in the forums.

Hi Groucho,

FPS is not installed on my computer...I use FlightGear...I only offered Jack that I could get screenshots for him. I would have to temporarily instal it to take some images but then it would be removed from my computer.

An afterthought:

I don't want to open a can of worms, but I have a question...I'm not a lawyer so this might not make sense. But can someone who has stolen another's intellectual property actually accuse you of piracy???

I am removing the post in question so some of the other posts in this thread might sound funny.

The video is stolen, the scenery is called "Brest" and it is released as Freeware- it may not be used commercial.

That says it all, or?

So they're using it illegally?

There's the illegal redistribution of software add-ons I mentioned as a lawsuit reason

I'm not sure if they are really using it.

But they make false statements with and use stolen videos for advertisements.

Actual In-Game Shots:

The sad thing is, their launcher beats ours by a landslide. Easy to use and set up, while FG's, I had to read the manual over quite a bit. :D

From what I've read, the only real difference aside from the name change is that you don't have to set the files paths, as that is somehow automated. But from the screenshots, it looks like you can't even preview, or look at, the aircraft you are going to choose. One thing I like about FGRun is that I can get into the cockpit of a plane without having to launch the sim, so I can make sure it has all the instruments and stuff I want. After all, there's not much use in waiting at least a minute for the thing to launch just to find out the cockpit has no instruments or something.

I know, yet I can't help but cringe a little bit every time he refers to FG as a game.
