I have an idea! Make it explode if someone goes above the max March. Parachutes only in the cargo version though. I don't think Pilots can abandon civilians and parachute.

Really? I would think the Over-the-limit-March explosion would be realistic.

No, planes don't explode like that when you exceed the limit. I believe you encounter a phenomenon known as mach buffeting.

@xsaint: I'm not sure how I did it really. I stalled, and I failed to recover at 500 AGL. With full power for at least a minute or so, the engines produced flames, and failed to produce any more thrust.

Perhaps the engines shut off at exceeding max march? I would believe planes have ssafety features like that.

Nah, the autopilot just takes over, pitches up, and lowers throttles to idle.

Something I have always wanted in FlightGear, realistic overspeed warnings. Would let people know that they can't fly a 777 faster than 340 knots KIAS.

Hi..since you reminded me...Yes i have an engine failure animation in this aircraft. You will see fire on ur engines ONLY if you triggered engine failures. Apart from that, the plane itself does not blow up its engines under heavy thrust. What could have happened to you at the point of time i can't imagine...unless you triggered engine failure or your SIM has gone nuts for the moment?

Do try again and if it happens do let me know...

cheers~

Yes a proper engine failure/shutdown can be animated considering the followings:
1)low oil pressure?
2)Oil leak?
3)Cooling/over heating?
4)Compressor fail?
5)Bird strikes? we need FG AI birds with its own FDMs!!! lol
6)Irregular air flow?
7)For some aircraft, engaging reverse thrust in mid air

We can use a combinations of the above rules where possible to trigger engine failure animation and using nasal to write engine state values to turn them off......

Over speeding? It depends..If AP is engaged it should control/limit the speed automatically....else if manual, then i guess we can implement warnings plus it should have an impact on the body frame/designs (eg F14 with wing falling off?)

It's all limited by creativity , hard facts and time on hand....

cheers

Haha nice imaginations......
But you only get that fire when you enable engine failure mode on the TU-214

I certainly think the cockpit needs to be improved. Yours is far too 777-like. Here's the real thing: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ockpit.jpg

IMO, the blue/yellow windows are, errm, unrealistic? :|

I'm not sure if those landing light models are actually useful or not if they just stick out the front of the aircraft and obscure the runway... This is assuming they don't actually illuminate the ground, though. As for the cockpit, I agree with Skyop.
