Varible names list needed

Postby ge_li » Tue May 17, 2011 8:29 am

Hello all,
I want to customize the HUD.
I do not know all names of variables I want to display on the screen.
I have checked the properties list:

http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Pr ... /Explained

but the <data_source> which is needed in the configuration xml is not consistent with the properties. So I used the wrong list.

Example:
in the properties list is an entry for alpha:
/orientation/alpha-deg

in the HUD config this is defined as "aoa"

Is there a list of the correct names of <data_source> which I need to configure the HUD corectly?

Thanks
Gerhard

Have a look in your install directory, under /data/Docs/README.hud

I can't see any special variable names. Just the usual properties.
This is a family-friendly saloon. No talk stink.

OK, but where can I find a list of the usual properties?
I simply want to display a lot of values in a label in the hud, but have no access to the correct names I would need for that.
Thanks again

You can browse around in the property tree using the property browser, accessible from File > Property browser in the menu in FlightGear when running. :)

Be warned that some flight dynamic models (FDMs) and even individual aircraft might have some differences in the properties. :|

EDIT: This might be helpful while figuring out what properties to show: You can overlay properties on the screen for the rest of a FlightGear session by shift + left-clicking a property in the property browser.
