I would suspect it has a pretty low Vne what with the fixed slatted wings, struts and all the angular window surfaces.

That particular FG aircraft has a couple of goodies I borrowed from the Fokker 50, the EEP panel has a series of buttons to set the engine's governor for takeoff, go-around, cruise, and approach regimes, clickable with a mouse.

Despite the drag, you can get the Uber-Storch to blast along at 140 knots, but it really slurps down the limited volume of Jet-A. Where it really shines is at loafing around at 50 to 70 knots with a notch of flaps set and then throttling up to climb out insanely.

I added wing struts to the Uberstorch they do seem a bit on the small side.

I'm still flying Farmboy's outrageous PT-6 Storch (remember Farmboy?). It goes a LOT faster than 140, and has a speedbrake that simplifies approaches immensely. It's fun to fly, but almost feels like cheating the laws of physics. If you do nothing but firewall the throttle from spawn configuration, it takes off and climbs vertically for several thousand feet before tipping over in a stall. It's just nuts.

Anyway, I'm happy because I bought myself a new 27" iMac with 16 GB of RAM and a 2 GB video card. I doubt you'll be hearing me whine about frame rates for awhile... ;)

I am happy because our local library has great connections.. and managed to find this book within the inter-library-exchange, the translated reprint of Rene Martel's tome on French WWI bombing squads. :D

Cool shit!

I'm happy because I'm finally back from the hospital, where I spent five days to have my thyroid removed- it was dramatically enlarged and full of nodules, but no cancer yet. The operation wound is healing slowly and pain is decreasing. Like ev'rybody else who had this operation, I will have to take hormone pills for the rest of my life now. FlightGear, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll!

So Johan, what are your fixes for FPS? ALS is OK, and I get like 10fps in the l159 with everything on.

Mainly using 800x600 pixels resolution and limiting the visual range to 10 km. I intend to refine my settings* and will hopefully do a writeup on a subpage to my user page on the wiki.

* I have recently started to play around with a PropertyList file with custom settings as per Re: customize & improve FG and FlightGear configuration via XML#Adding your own settings.

congrats Grandpa VA28!
If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall
