FG 2.8 doesn't start on Mountain Lion

Postby dalmolozzo » Thu Mar 21, 2013 1:44 pm

Just got a new Macbook Pro with i7 2.9GHz processor, 8GB RAM, 75OGB hardware. I've downloaded FG 2.8 and installed it. No problem until here. But then, I set up my flight and I press "Start Flight" but nothing happens! What should I do? Please answer! Thanks! :(

Could you paste the output from the log (first tab of the launcher, the button at the bottom that says "view log")?

I've only found this by the fg launcher---> general---> view log

Base package check failed:
Version [none] found at: Contents/Resources/data
Version 2.8.0 is required.
Please upgrade/downgrade base package and set the path to your fgdata
with --fg-root=path_to_your_fgdata

is this helpful?

yes, you are missing the base package, which needs to be specified via the --fg-root= switch or alternatively set the $FG_ROOT environment variable, otherwise the binary/program cannot find its data folder, but that is where all the scenery, aircraft, images, sounds etc are stored.

A lot of Mac users (me included) never got a working version 2.8.

I suggest you throw v 2.8 away and start afresh with V 2.10 r379 that one seems to work for everyone.
